Tyson Griffin – Head Coach

Tyson Griffin is Bay Area Native born April 20th 1984. Tyson grew up with 2 brothers. One on one competition was a constant practice, and sports were a big part of his life. Tyson attended Albany School Systems his entire educational career. Once in junior college he decided to focus on wrestling which led to a professional mixed martial arts competition.

In 2004 Tyson went on to start his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Career. Excelling in grappling, between his Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu he burst on the scene of the sport and quickly became someone who was going to rise to the top! In 2005, and just his 3rd fight, he went on to beat the highly recognized Urijah Faber by TKO to become the Gladiator Challenge 145 pound Champion. Just a year later in 2006 he went on to beat another widely known fighter by the name of Duane Ludwig also by TKO this time in Strikeforce to bring his record at the time to 7 – 0 and stopping every opponent he had up to that date before it could go to the score cards.

From there he was picked up by the Ultimate Fighting Challenge (UFC) and went on to be know as one of the most exciting fighters of his time. Some even nick named him Tyson (fight of the night) Griffin. He fought some of the best fighters in the world during his 14 fight UFC career. Tyson has a pro MMA record of 16 – 8 and has been training in MMA for over 10 years. He started as an excellent grappler between his wrestling and jiu-jitsu, but went on to become known for his great stand up fighting! He was trained by some highly known trainers throughout his career that were also one of the best fighters in the world in their primes.

Just to list a few: Rosendo Sanchez (pro boxer with a win over Nonito Donaire), Shawn Tompkins (trained multiple UFC champions), Randy Couture (former UFC light heavyweight champion, and heavyweight champion), Bas Rutten (former UFC heavyweight champion, and pancrase world champion}, Ray Sefo (3 time Muay Thai world champion).
